Philly Youth Radio at Philly STAKE

Yowei Shaw (ACG ’11, ’10, ’09) and Beth Patel (ACG ’12) announce that they have been selected to present their project Philly Youth Radio at the next Philly STAKE dinner on Sunday, June 24 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Bartrum’s Garden (54th and Lindbergh Blvd). They hope to raise money at the dinner for our third season of Philly Youth Radio, which will take place this fall and focus on the theme of love and relationships.

Philly STAKE is a locally sourced, recurring dinner in which money is raised for creative & relevant community engaged projects. Seven groups have been invited to give 3-minute pitches for their projects to diners, who will then vote on which project to fund.

Please purchase tickets and come out for a delicious meal and support Philly Youth Radio! Tickets can be purchased at this site.

Philly Youth Radio provides high school students with the tools and training to create their own radio stories – and the opportunity to share them on a larger stage. Working with professional audio producers, youth radio apprentices engage in intensive radio production workshops to produce stories about issues important to them and their communities. Participants gain experience in story pitching, interviewing, field recording, script-writing, digital editing and voicing.  Our hope is that these youth-produced radio stories will promote intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, as well as better understanding about young people’s lives and contributions in this city.
