Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Co. announce The Keepers Project

Anne-Marie Mulgrew (ACG ’12, WOO ’03, WOO ’01) and Dancers Company announces “The Keepers Project,” a series of free workshops and community dance-based theatre project for people 65 years of age and older of all skill levels and ethnicities. The first workshop will take place on July 19, 10:00am-11:30am at University City Arts League (4226 Spruce Street) and will continue monthly from July 2012 until March 2013. Workshops will explore the group’s stories that may include traditions, immigrating to the US, or life-changing moments through a series of guided movement and theater exercises. Sessions will be documented and participants will keep a journal and leave with a workshop portfolio. No experience is needed – just a willingness to share, connect and be involved in the process.

To register and for more information, contact 215-462-7720, email ammdco2000@att.net or visit the Dancers Co. or University City Arts League sites.

Participants are encouraged to attend all 10 sessions. Additional sessions will meet August 16, September 19, October 24, November 28, December 19, January 23, February 20, March 20 and the final culminating workshop TBD. All sessions run 10am-11:30am.

Ms. Mulgrew attended the 2012 conference on Creative Arts & Aging sponsored by Princeton Arts Council and left inspired to do more. In addition to choreographing 65 productions for concert stages, non-traditional venues and film/TV, Ms. Mulgrew has designed educational programs for students-of-all-ages and skill levels. For twenty-five years, she has conducted workshops/classes for community settings, studios, residencies, and universities/colleges. Megan Wilson Stern, who will assist with the workshop, is a professional dancer and educator who teaches at University City Arts League.
