Philadelphia’s eccentric CandyCoated Studio, a “silk-screen studio/school/showroom” managed by Candy Depew (WOO ’04), announces exciting opportunities for the summer.
At the center’s Studio School of Decorative Art & Design, students can take fun and hands-on classes in silk-screen printing, wallpaper design, fabric design and yardage printing where they can create and keep their original designs. Individualized attention and plenty of studio space is available. Classes are offered in three sessions each in June, July and August. Check out the website for more info.
CandyCoated also invites art enthusiasts to view the newly expanded studio on June 22, 3:00pm-9:00pm at the Open Studio Celebration and Sale. Highlighted will be the Lobo Mau indie fashion label’s collaboration with CandyCoated screen printed fabrics – “a unique line of garments like absolutely no other!”
Finally, the Studio’s “Candy Coated Print Shop Cruiser” will be on display at the Race Street Pier Family Sunday Fundays this summer. Described as a bike, a pop up studio, and a “print shop on wheels” all at once, this colorful bike will be on display on June 17 and 24 and July 22 and 29.
