Yowei Shaw (ACG ’09, ’10, ’11) and Philly Youth Radio is hosting their final showcase and celebration of “Tenn Sanctuaries” Doesn’t everyone deserve a safe space? A place to relax and recharge? Philly Youth Radio asked students to investigate the idea of a “sanctuary” for this year’s PYR series. The youth radio apprentices have produced some amazing work and they are excited to share it with you! The event will take place on April 17 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at PhillyCam (699 Ranstead).
Philly Youth Radio seeks to provide high school students with the tools and training to create their own radio stories – and the opportunity to share them on a larger stage. Under the supervision of professional audio producers, youth radio apprentices engage in intensive radio production workshops to produce stories about issues important to them and their communities. For more information visit their blog. This project is possible by the support of the Leeway Foundation, Asian Arts Initiative, and WHYY. If you would like to volunteer at the event or any other PYR activities, contact Yowei Shaw (shaw.yr@gmail.com).
