Yowei Shaw Showcases Youth-Created Audio Essays On School Violence

Audio essays created by youth during Yowei Shaw’s (ACG ’10, ACG ’09) Philly Youth Radio Project apprenticeship will premiere at Asian Arts Initiative’s (1219 Vine St., Philadelphia) Youth Lounge Showcase on Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 3:00-5:00pm. These first person audio essays are gritty, funny, and authentic, all centering on the theme of bullying and school violence. Come drop by to listen to the pieces, eat some snacks, meet the youth radio apprentices, and check out other art work made by youth. The event is free and open to the public. For more information on the project, visit phillyyouthradioproject.wordpress.com.
