Aja Beech (ACG ’10) will release her chapbook Beccaria, an anthology of poems and artwork contributed by individuals affected by the Pennsylvania death penalty, in conjunction with the Execute Art, Not People event at Broad Street Ministry. The event, which falls on the Christian holiday of Good Friday, will focus on the effects of present-day executions. Speakers include Bonnita Spikes, who lost her husband to murder and now seeks abolition of the death penalty, and Shujaa Graham, who was exonerated after three years on death row. There will also be live music from Kelly & the Ruths. The event will take place on Friday, April 22, 2011 from 5-7pm at Broad Street Ministry (315 S. Broad St.), and is free and open to the public.
