Co-founded by media makers, Chinonye Chukwu and Tanya Jackson, the Philly Philm Slam is a film and video competition resulting in a grand prize of at least $250 and other additional rewards!
HOW IT WORKS:
For three consecutive months, 4-6 independent film/video makers will screen their short works in front of a live audience at the prestigious Arts Garage (1533 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19130). Prior to the screenings, two audience members will be randomly selected to be a part of the judging panel (along with professionals in the filmmaking industry from the Philadelphia community). After the screenings, the judges will decide the winner for each week. The three collective winners from each month will then compete in a final round in February or March, in front of a new judging panel. The winner from that round will be declared the overall winner. You only need to submit ONE piece of work for the entire competition.

The Slam will kick off its inaugural event November 10th, and will continue to run every second Wednesday of each month at the Arts Garage from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Tickets for non-competitors are only $10 each and include a complimentary food and drink special from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
