Celebrate with Asian Americans United

For 25 years, Asian Americans United has been on the front lines, engaging Asian Americans from diverse backgrounds and neighborhoods to work for and invest in sustainable positive change for Philadelphia. Join the celebrations as the 15th Annual Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival and AAU’s 25 Anniversary are right around the corner – Volunteer and Sponsor openings are still available!

The 15th Annual Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival will take place on Saturday, September 18, 2010. This is an all day extravaganza starting on 10th & Arch Streets. Thousands of people will meet in Philadelphia’s Chinatown to celebrate old traditions and establish new ones marking the Harvest Moon. Youth give a day of service, restaurants donate food, artists offer their talents, businesses and organizations chip in money – hundreds of people work together to make the festival a success. Highlights of this unique family cultural event include lion dances, martial art demonstrations, Chinese opera and the annual mooncake eating contest. Visit aaunited.org for more details.

Party like it’s 1985 with Asian Americans United! On Friday, November 12, 2010 from 5:30 to 8:30PM at the Philadelphia Ethical Society located at 1906 Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia. This fundraiser will culminate a yearlong series of public activities marking 25 years of developing new leadership with youth and immigrants, advancing more equitable and accountable public education measures, and re-framing community revitalization with the promotion of holistic solutions for Philadelphia’s Asian American communities. Event highlights include the Stand Up For Justice awards and live cultural performances. Individual tickets are $50, contact Ellen Somekawa to reserve your spot at aau@aaunited.org.
