Alliance of Artists Communities 2010 Leadership Institute Retreat

Join the Alliance for the 3rd biennial Leadership Institute — a 4 day retreat for leadership development of arts administrators, in the idyllic setting of Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Be inspired. Be Challenged. Be the leader you’ve always hoped you’d be. Whether an executive director, program manager, or other staff, discover your own leadership style and build the confidence and skills to lead an organization that supports artists of any discipline. The Leadership Institute will be led by Paula Manley and Sonya Shah, consultants who specialize in assisting organizations with embracing diversity, developing multiple leaders, and navigating organizational change.

Alliance of Artists Communities Leadership Institute Retreat combines professional best-practices with personal leadership development, ideal for group work as well as individual reflection. The curriculum is designed for administrators within nonprofit arts organizations, particularly those who work directly with individual artists in any discipline – visual arts, music, dance, literature, etc.

The work will challenge and inspire you to:

  • Develop your personal leadership style
  • Explore major trends and influences shaping your environment
  • Understand how leaders of different generations approach their work and identify strategies for working skillfully together
  • Discover your potential as a leader in a multicultural society
  • Learn the life stages of nonprofits and strategies for creating sustainable organizations that are prepared for leadership succession
  • Broaden your network of peer support for ongoing learning and collaboration

Space is limited to 22 participants; all registrations will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis.

Registration fees are $750-850. Total value of the Institute is $2,200 per person and thanks to the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, the Alliance is able to greatly subsidize the Institute cost. A limited number of scholarships are also available.
